Eastern Sénégal

Day 1 : DAKAR – PORTES DU NIOKOLO KOBA (Wassadou). (About 510km/8h)
  • Leave Dakar or Saly by road early in the morning,
  • Visit the shrub steppe, the favorite area of nomadic herders.
  • Lunch at a restaurant on Kundam beach by the Saloum River.
  • Continue to Wassadou by the River Gambia and stay at a hotel by the Niokolo Koba park. Typical huts equipped comfortably for relaxation and the joys of nature…
  • Dinner
DAY 2 : WASSADOU – PARC NIOKOLO KOBA - KEDOUGOU. (About 185km/03h)
  • Follow guide for an early morning safari trip to find wild animals in the lush vegetation of Niokolo koba park.
  • You may see warthogs, monkeys, antelopes, several species of birds and, exceptionally, some panthers and lions. 
  • After visiting the park and having a lunch picnic, drive to Mako village for a walk along the banks of the River Gambia in search of hippos before leaving for Kedougou.
  • Return to the hotel for dinner.
DAY 3: KEDOUGOU – IWOL – DINDEFELO - KEDOUGOU. (About 80km/01h30)
  • Leave after breakfast to find out more about the Bedik tribe.
  • Visit the Iwol Bedik traditional village on the hills (walk for 2h30 A/R, part of the distance can be covered by car).
  • Then use the bush path to the Fulani village of Dindéfelo. Once there, take a road that will surprise you with its exuberance and small streams to get to the waterfall after a 20 minute walk. The water in this waterfall drops from a height of 80 m into an inviting pool you can swim in.
  • Picnic at the foot of the waterfall.
  • Leave for Kedougou later in the afternoon. Dinner and night at the hotel
DAY 4 : KEDOUGOU – TOMBORONKOTO – MAKO - TAMBACOUNDA. (About 245km/04h)
  • Leave Kedougou for Tomboronkoto village. This village now has a variety of people from various African countries, attracted by the search for gold.
  • After visiting the village and mines, where gold is dug in a very artisanal way, go back to Mako village.
  • Lunch in Mako and continue to Tambacounda.
  • Dinner and night at the hotel.
DAY 5 : TAMBACOUNDA – KAOLACK - DAKAR. (About 450 km/.07h)
  • After a quick early breakfast, begin the trip back to Dakar.
  • Stop for lunch by the Saloum River.
  • Travel to Dakar and arrive in the late afternoon.
